What is the Rockford Area Community Endowment?

It’s a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people in our local area. It enables people with philanthropic interests to easily and effectively support the issues they care about, immediately, or through their will. Donors can contribute a variety of assets to a charitable fund at the Endowment, and may also recommend grants to nonprofit groups they want to support.

RACE was founded in the 60's by a group of businessmen to accept funding for the pool at what is now North Rockford Middle School.

What We Have Already Done!

  • Funded construction of the North Rockford Middle School swimming pool
  • Development of the Rockford Towers senior housing facility
  • Rockford Fire Department smoke detector program
  • Equipment and uniform purchases for the Rockford Police Bicycle Patrol
  • Help to coordinate funding activities of other community groups
